About Care Out Loud

Anyone caring for an aging, sick or disabled loved one. That could be a parent, partner, child, friend, or neighbor. If you're holding it together for someone else, this space is for you.
Stick around. Chances are, you'll be one someday. Or you know someone who already is. Our resources & community are here to help you prepare. And as the late Rosalyn Carter once said, "There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers. And those will need a caregiver."
Nope. While our stats focus on U.S. caregivers, many of the tools & tips apply wherever you are.
Absolutely nothing. Everything we feature will always be free or made free through sponsorships and partners.
Quick, trusted tools & tips to lighten the load. Plus a community that gets you.
Because caregiving can't be supported if it isn't seen. Our campaigns put it in the spotlight so it can be better understood, better recognized, and better supported. If we see it, we can change it.

Resources

We keep it curated & trusted. Every resource goes through our review committee of caregiving experts. The criteria is simple: • It must be free (or made free through a partner or sponsor) • It has to be actually useful — not just more noise
Yes. And we wouldn't have it any other way. Our review committee brings together people who know caregiving inside and out: clinicians, nonprofit leaders, researchers – and most importantly – caregivers themselves. We also work with national leaders in the caregiving space — including Caring Across Generations, Caregiving Action Network, National Association for Caregiving, and the Milken Institute Future of Aging — to make sure every resource we feature is credible, practical, and actually useful in real life.
All the time. Our review committee looks at new submissions & suggestions on an ongoing basis. Plus, we highlight fresh tools on social, so there's always something new to check out.
Totally. And we welcome it! We're building this space with caregivers, not just for them. If there's something you wish was here, let us know at hello@wecareoutloud.org

Care Conversation Cards

Glad you asked! They're a free deck of prompts to help families actually talk about care — from the tough stuff (like medical wishes and money) to the everyday realities (like who's picking up prescriptions).
Truth is, you don't. But too often, care conversations don't happen until there's a crisis. And by then, it's stressful and messy. These convo cards take the guesswork out of what to ask, making it easier to start early & talk openly. In a perfect world, we'd all be talking about care way before it gets urgent. But that's not reality for most people. So think of this deck as a first step. It doesn't have every question you could possibly ask, but it's a solid starting point. Got a question you think we should add? Let us know! Email us at hello@careoutloud.org
The deck is free & ready to use on our site. You can heart (save) the ones you want to come back to, print the questions that hit home, and even share them on your socials to spark bigger conversations.

Mission & Background

Because the caregiving crisis can't wait. 63 million Americans are caring for a loved one, often without enough time, money, or support. Care Out Loud launched to put caregiving front and center; so it's easier to navigate, less isolating, and impossible to ignore.
More and more people are living longer, often with chronic conditions that require ongoing support. That means the demand for care is skyrocketing. At the same time, there simply aren't enough people — or systems — to meet that need. Right now, 1 in 4 Americans is a caregiver, but most are figuring it out with little to no training, resources, or workplace flexibility. Families are stretched thin, often balancing jobs, kids, and caregiving at once. Many end up burning out, cutting work hours, or leaving the workforce entirely. And then they lose income, benefits, and stability. So when we say "caregiving crisis," we mean this: the need for care is growing fast, but the support for caregivers hasn't kept up. And unless that changes, the strain on families — and the people they care for — will only get worse.
We're powered by One Family Foundation, a nonprofit established by actor, director, producer, and writer Bradley Cooper in honor of his late father.

Partnerships

Care Out Loud teamed up with The Sandwich Club - a modern online resource hub for caregivers - to create tools that make caregiving (somewhat) easier. Together, we built Caregiving Cheat Sheets (for everything from financial & legal musts to end-of-life planning) and Care Conversation Cards (convo starters for those “uhhh, how do I even bring this up?” talks). Think of them as your starter pack to make caregiving feel more "okay, I got this" and less "what the heck do I do now?”.
